Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal has promised to keep chasing his dreams after placing third in the 2026 men’s Ballon d’Or rankings. He believes his moment will come.
The 19-year-old shared his thoughts in a Facebook post on Tuesday. This was a day after Bayern Munich's Harry Kane won the award, with Real Madrid's Kylian Mbappe coming second and Yamal finishing third.
“My time will come. Good things take time, and I trust the path I’m building,” Yamal stated.
He added, “No rush, with plenty of ambition, and with the calmness that comes from knowing my moment will arrive one day.”
Yamal congratulated the winners and said he is now focused on helping Barcelona get back to winning ways.
“Congratulations to the winners. My focus now returns to what matters most: bringing Barcelona back to winning ways,” he wrote.
Even though Yamal did not win the main award, he did take home the Kopa Trophy for the third year in a row. This trophy recognizes the best young player.
His post comes after Barcelona lost 2-1 to Real Madrid in Sunday’s El Clasico. Yamal is now focused on how the club will bounce back in their next matches.
