Ngozi Adeleke, the wife of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, has shared that her husband's famous dance skills were known long before he entered politics. She recalled how he danced at their traditional wedding.

In a recent chat with Vanguard, Adeleke mentioned that her husband earned the nickname ‘Jackson’ because of his dancing. She added that she loves to watch him show off his dance moves.

She said her husband was not in politics when they got married. It was his older brother who was involved in politics back then.

The governor, known as the “Dancing Governor”, has made his lively dance moves a big part of his public appearances. He uses them to connect with his supporters and the people of Osun State.

Some of his political opponents have criticized his dancing, saying it is not appropriate for a governor. But Adeleke has defended his dancing as a hobby. He sees it as a way to relieve stress and give thanks to God. He insists that dancing does not get in the way of his duties as governor.

“My husband did not start dancing today. I met him when he was in school in the US,” said the governor’s wife. “They called him Jackson because of his dancing skills. When we went to my village for my traditional marriage, my husband danced from morning till the next morning. He brought Shina Peters and another musician. It was like a carnival.

“I don’t think my village people have ever seen that type of wedding up till today. They still talk about it. I didn’t marry him as a politician. His elder brother was the one in politics then. When he came on board, people thought he just started dancing. Now, when my village people see him on video or television, they say, “Leave him for us, we appreciate him.”

Adeleke also shared that her husband is not just a great dancer but sings well too, especially when he praises God.

She described him as a strong man who hardly gets angry.

“In my house, I can say I am the only one who doesn’t know how to dance. If you know my husband, you will not see him sick or angry because at any time, if he’s not singing, he is praising God or dancing.

“He’s a very strong man, loves people around him, and enjoys merry-making. With him, there is no dull moment. My husband was in the choir. He can play the drum and sing very well.”

She praised her husband for his efforts in the state, noting the prompt payment of salaries, infrastructure projects, and other developments he has achieved.
