Algeria and Morocco Head to 2027 Women’s World Cup

Two African countries have made it to the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.

They are Algeria and Morocco. They qualified after winning their matches in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations quarter-finals.

Algeria secured their spot at the global tournament for the first time. They came from behind to beat Côte d’Ivoire 2-1. Morocco also won against South Africa with the same score.

Both teams earned automatic qualification by reaching the WAFCON semi-finals, based on established rules.

Two more African nations will join them at the 2027 World Cup after the last WAFCON quarter-finals.

Cameroon will play Nigeria, and Malawi will face Ghana on Sunday. The winners of these matches will also qualify for the World Cup.

Côte d’Ivoire and South Africa still have a chance to qualify through the FIFA Play-Off Tournament.

The two teams that lost in the quarter-finals will meet in a play-off match on August 13. The winner will advance to the 2027 World Cup along with one of the other two quarter-final losers.

The 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup will take place in Brazil.
