Algeria came from behind to win 2-1 against Jordan in a World Cup Group J match on Monday. This loss knocked the Asian team out of the tournament.
Nizar al-Rashdan scored first for Jordan. Amine Gouiri quickly equalized for Algeria. Nadhir Benbouali then scored the winning goal for Algeria in the 82nd minute in Santa Clara.
This victory gives Algeria a chance to move on to the knockout stage. They will need to beat Austria in Kansas City on Saturday.
Austria lost 2-0 to Argentina earlier on Monday. This result puts Argentina at the top of Group J with six points.
Both Austria and Algeria now have three points each in the group.
Jordan will play their final match against Argentina in Arlington, Texas on Saturday.
