Allegri Takes Over as Napoli Manager

Massimiliano Allegri is the new manager of Napoli. The Serie A club made this announcement on Friday.

"Napoli welcomes Massimiliano Allegri as manager of the first team," the club said in a statement. Allegri, who is 58 years old, signed a three-year contract that will last until 2029.

Before now, Allegri was the coach of Juventus from 2014 to 2019 and again from 2021 to 2024. He also managed AC Milan from 2010 to 2014 and will be back with them in 2025 to 2026. Milan fired him after the team failed to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Since the last season ended, nine of the 20 Serie A teams have changed their coaches. This includes Napoli, AC Milan, which hired Portuguese coach Ruben Amorim, Atalanta Bergamo with Maurizio Sarri, and Fiorentina with Fabio Grosso.

Antonio Conte, who led Napoli to win the Serie A title in the 2024/25 season, is now seen as a top candidate for the Italy national team coach.

Conte had previously coached the national team from 2014 to 2016. He took Italy to the Euro 2016 quarter-finals, but they lost to Germany on penalties.
