No fewer than 480 interns have been trained in three tech fields under Anambra State Government’s Tech Skills Scheme called “Everything Technology, Technology Everywhere.”
The trainees included 300 in robotics, 100 internet service provider (ISP) engineers, and 80 startup graduates. This was announced at a ceremony held at the new Government House in Awka on Wednesday.
Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo congratulated the graduates. He said digital technology is essential in today’s world and is important in every field.
Mr Soludo explained that the initiative, led by the Solution Innovation Districts (SID), aims to build a strong digital economy for Anambra’s future. He encouraged the graduates to use their skills to make a difference with technology.
“I want to see more startups and innovative products coming from our schools, especially secondary schools, because catching them young is very important.
“We will also support primary school pupils to think creatively, along with private businesses,” he added.
Chinwe Okoli, who is the special adviser to Mr Soludo on Innovation and Business Incubation and the CEO of SID, thanked the governor, partners, guests, and graduates for the program’s success.
Ms Okoli said the government understands the need to invest in talent. She noted that the private sector also needs to play an active part in this tech revolution.
Under Governor Soludo’s leadership, Anambra’s digital transformation is moving forward; it is not just a promise but a reality.
The governor had originally promised to train 10,000 people each year, but in the first year, over 30,000 people have already received training.
“I celebrate our three main programs: robotics training, ISP network engineering, and the Anambra startup incubation.
“They are all based on four key areas: practical training, access to infrastructure, mentorship from industry experts, and support to turn ideas into businesses,” she said.
