APM Picks Retired NNPC Boss as Deputy Governor Candidate for Adamawa

The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has announced Safriel Glah, a retired general manager at NNPC Limited, as its deputy governorship candidate for Adamawa State.

She will run with the party’s governorship candidate, Abdulrahman Haske.

The announcement happened during a media briefing in Abuja. Party leaders and stakeholders described the ticket as strong, balanced, and focused on delivering results to boost economic development in the North-eastern state.

At the briefing, Mr Haske called Ms Glah's selection a smart choice based on her skill, honesty, and years of great public service.

He said this ticket combines two important areas needed for good governance: private sector innovation and public sector leadership.

“Today marks an important milestone in our shared goal for a better and brighter Adamawa State. In Engr. Safriel Glah, we have a partner whose excellent career shows dedication, discipline, professionalism, and selfless service,” Mr Haske said.

He added that while he comes from a business background, Ms Glah has over 34 years of experience in public service, environmental governance, and managing institutions.

“Our partnership brings together our different strengths,” Mr Haske said. “While I have spent years building businesses and empowering youth, Engr. Glah has an impressive record in public administration and policy work. Together, we offer Adamawa a strong, balanced team committed to improving our state.”

About the Deputy Governorship Candidate

Ms Glah retired from NNPC Limited as General Manager and Head of Environment, Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE).

She is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE) and is well-known for her leadership in engineering, environmental sustainability, and community development.

Her career lasted over 34 years in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry. She is a fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE), focusing on engineering management, environmental policy, and sustainable governance.

In her acceptance speech, Ms Glah thanked APM leaders and the people of Adamawa State for their trust in her. She promised to support Mr Haske’s vision with commitment and good management.

“I stand before you today feeling humble and very grateful. As Deputy Governorship Candidate, I will back my principal, support his leadership, and work with our team to push for a vision of inclusive development, opportunity, accountability, and sustainable progress. To the people of Adamawa State, I am ready to listen, ready to work, and ready to serve.”

In separate interviews after the event, APM National Chairman, Yusuf Dantalle, and Adamawa State Chairman, Badejo Bello, called the Haske-Glah ticket a winning choice.

Mr Dantalle mentioned that APM carefully created a ticket that balances private business with public governance experience, making a strong case for economic growth, job creation, and reform.

Echoing this, Mr Bello said Ms Glah’s selection has significantly boosted the party’s chances in the upcoming 2027 elections. He said the mix of business and honest administration will resonate well with everyone in Adamawa State.
