Brighton & Hove Albion have agreed to sign Nigeria's Femi Azeez from Millwall for a deal worth up to £15m. The winger is currently undergoing medical tests, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.
The Athletic’s David Ornstein reports that the deal includes a £12.5m transfer fee. There are also more than £2.5m in performance-related add-ons. Millwall has allowed Azeez to have his medical ahead of the deadline-day transfer.
The 25-year-old is likely to sign a four-year contract with Brighton, lasting until June 2030. Brighton also has the option to extend his contract for another year.
Brighton had made two previous bids for Azeez, but Millwall turned them down. The club from the Championship initially wanted £15m for the winger. Azeez was also excited about the chance to join Brighton.
In the last season, Azeez had a fantastic run, scoring 11 goals and assisting eight times in 35 Championship games. His great performance earned him spots in both the Championship Team of the Year and the PFA Team of the Year.
Azeez also got his first Nigeria cap under coach Eric Chelle. He made an instant impact by scoring two goals against Zimbabwe in the Unity Cup. He also assisted in the final against Jamaica, helping the Super Eagles keep the trophy.
Millwall bought Azeez from Reading for about £1m in 2024. His upcoming transfer to Brighton will bring a big profit for Millwall.
