Veteran entertainer and activist, Charly Boy, has urged musicians and public figures to use their voices to tackle social issues. He believes entertainers have a duty to reflect the realities of the communities they are part of.

As he prepares for the July 2026 release of his memoir, ‘999’, Charly Boy pointed out that many celebrities can influence people more than politicians. He said they should not avoid talking about issues that affect everyday Nigerians.

He stated that artists can significantly impact public discussions through their music and public appearances.

“They can do more. They have larger platforms than politicians. It won’t hurt them to speak up or make music that reflects reality,” he said.

Charly Boy shared his worries about the state of Nigeria, especially the rising insecurity in the country. He warned that the situation might worsen if quick actions are not taken to solve the root problems.

“It’s going to explode in our faces,” he said.

He also mentioned what he sees as a decline in family values, which he believes contributes to Nigeria’s social issues. Charly Boy noted that economic struggles have put a lot of pressure on families. Some parents are pushing their children toward questionable ways to make money.

He criticized old parenting styles, saying that methods that worked for past generations might not be suitable for raising Gen Z and millennial kids.

Despite his worries, he remains hopeful about Nigeria’s future. He believes that the country's hopes lie with outstanding young people who are eager to create opportunities for themselves instead of waiting for them.

Charly Boy praised the rise of a new group of activists and social commentators who are using their voices to push for change.

Beyond his views on society and governance, Charly Boy described his upcoming memoir as a very personal story. He said the title represents change, rebirth, and the start of a new journey.

He explained that while many people still see him as a biker, he has moved on to focus on storytelling, reflection, and leaving a legacy.

He promised readers an honest account of his life, stating that the memoir will include “the good, the bad and the ugly.” He added that many people go through life without sharing their full stories.

Looking back, he admitted that he was rebellious and “irresponsible” in his younger days. He maintained that he never lost sight of his goals, even when he clashed with his father throughout his life.
