Chiamaka Nnadozie shines as top goalkeeper in debut WSL season

Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has had an amazing first season in the Barclays Women’s Super League. She finished the 2025/26 season with the highest save percentage in the league, proving she is one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

The latest league stats from the WSL show that Nnadozie, who plays for Brighton, had a save percentage of 74.7 per cent. This is the best among all goalkeepers who played at least 10 league matches this season.

Nnadozie just edged out Chelsea’s Hannah Hampton, who came in second with a save rate of 74.6 per cent. Meanwhile, Manchester United’s Phallon Tullis-Joyce took third place with a save percentage of 73.6 per cent.

These impressive numbers come in Nnadozie’s first season in English football after she moved to Brighton. She quickly became one of the standout players in the league.

In 19 league matches, the 25-year-old faced 83 shots on target and made 62 saves. She consistently delivered match-winning performances while adjusting to one of the toughest women’s leagues in the world.

Her strong play in goal also helped Brighton have a good campaign. She kept them competitive against the best teams in the WSL and helped the club reach the Women’s FA Cup final, where they lost to Manchester City.

Besides her top save percentage, Nnadozie finished the season with six clean sheets. This is the joint fourth-highest in the league. She also prevented around 3.3 goals, showing her ability to make key saves and help Brighton in tough matches.

Her excellence did not go unnoticed during the season. Earlier this year, she won the WSL Save of the Month award for an amazing fingertip save against Liverpool. This fantastic save also got her a nomination for the Save of the Season award.

Now, Nnadozie is focusing on her international duties. She has joined the Super Falcons in Casablanca, Morocco, as Nigeria gets ready to defend its Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title.

After success in France with Paris FC and making a strong start in England, Nnadozie goes into the continental competition in great form. This shows again why she is one of Africa’s most reliable goalkeepers.
