Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze has a big chance to impress new AC Milan coach Ruben Amorim. He is in the club's squad for the pre-season tour, while his future at San Siro is still unclear, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.
Chukwueze, who might leave the Rossoneri this summer, wants to show Amorim that he deserves a spot in the team. Milan is getting ready for two important friendly matches.
Milan's squad for the tour includes Chukwueze, Rafael Leao, new signing Pervis Estupiñán, and defender Fikayo Tomori.
The Rossoneri are heading to Australia after a 2-2 draw with Celtic in Glasgow on Sunday. They will play city rivals Inter Milan in Perth on Wednesday and Chelsea in Jakarta on August 8.
Amorim wants to evaluate every player in his squad during the tour, including those whose futures are unclear. Estupiñán has been linked with a move to Aston Villa, while Tomori is attracting interest from Newcastle United.
Leao is still on holiday after the FIFA Club World Cup and is expected to join the squad in Australia next week. This means Milan is not looking for an immediate transfer involving the Portuguese forward.
Veteran midfielder Luka Modrić, Gonçalo Ramos, Alexis Saelemaekers, Ardon Jashari, and Koni De Winter will also join the squad during the tour.
Defender Mario Gila has traveled with the team, even after suffering a minor muscle injury in the friendly against Celtic.
For Chukwueze, these pre-season matches might be crucial as he tries to gain Amorim's trust ahead of the 2026/27 season and avoid leaving the seven-time European champions.
He just returned to Milan after a loan at Fulham, where the Premier League club chose not to activate the €26m purchase option in the agreement.
While at Fulham, Chukwueze scored three goals and made four assists in 23 league matches, building a good partnership with fellow Nigerians Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey.
