Portsmouth goalkeeper Comfort Erhabor is excited about her possible first game with Nigeria in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. This match will be against Malawi and could tie her to the Super Falcons, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.
Erhabor is eligible to play for three countries. Her eligibility comes from her Nigerian parents, her birth in the Netherlands, and her growing up in England. If she plays in the 2026 WAFCON, she will be officially tied to Nigeria.
In a chat with the Super Falcons media team, Erhabor shared her feelings after getting her first senior call-up. She admitted she felt nervous about this big opportunity.
“I straight away called my mom and I told her about my call up. I was a bit nervous because I did not really know what to expect. But I am excited to step into the experience,” she said.
Training with Inspirations
The young goalkeeper also expressed joy at training with Super Falcons first-choice goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie. She sees Nnadozie as one of her biggest inspirations in football.
“It feels unreal, that is probably one of the people I really looked the most up to in women’s football. To get to train alongside her and learn from her, it is something really special,” she said. She mentioned that Nnadozie and former Germany goalkeeper Manuel Neuer are her two biggest role models.
Nigeria is set to start their WAFCON journey against Malawi. They aim to win back the title and secure their tenth championship, which would be a record. They previously made a strong comeback to beat Morocco three to two in the last final.
