Nigerian music stars Davido and Rema, along with Congolese singer Fally Ipupa, will headline the seventh edition of Afro Nation Portugal in June 2027.
The organisers shared the first list of performers on Wednesday. They confirmed these three artistes as the main headliners for the festival.
Omah Lay, Victony, Shenseea, Valiant, Rayvanny, Odeal, Bamby, and Miimii KDS are also part of the lineup. Congolese-French singer GIMS will join as a special guest.
Afro Nation Portugal 2027 is set to happen from June 9 to 11 at Praia da Rocha beach in Portimão, Algarve, Portugal. The festival will kick off with an opening party on June 8 and wrap up with a closing party on June 12.
Davido, Rema, and Fally Ipupa have all performed at Afro Nation Portugal before. The organisers called them “three giants of African music.”
The Piano People Stage, which focuses on amapiano, will showcase Kabza De Small, TxC, Dlala Thukzin, 031Choppa, 2woBunnies, Benzo, Thatohatsi, Uncool MC, W4DE, Young Stunna, and Zee Nxumalo.
On the Afrotronic Stage, fans can expect performances from Caiiro, Djeff, Jamiie, Aniko, and JNR SA. More artistes will be announced in the coming days.
Afro Nation Portugal started in Portimão in 2019. It has grown into a big international festival that celebrates Afrobeats, amapiano, and African music and culture.
The 2027 edition will occur earlier than recent years, which usually held the festival in July. The festival's official website states that it is an 18+ event, and attendees must show valid photo ID.
This announcement highlights the festival's strong support for Nigerian music. Previous editions featured big names like Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Asake.
Nigerian artistes have been a key part of Afro Nation Portugal since it began in 2019. Many Afrobeats stars regularly take top spots at the festival.
Burna Boy has headlined multiple editions, including the first one in 2019, as well as the 2022, 2023, 2025, and 2026 editions. Davido has also been a regular, headlining or performing at the 2019, 2022, 2023, and 2025 editions. He is set to return as a headliner for 2027.
Wizkid has been featured prominently at the festival in 2019, 2022, 2023, and 2026. Asake headlined in 2024 and returned in 2026. Rema was a headliner in 2024 and will headline again in 2027.
Tems also took the stage as a headliner in 2025, showing the festival's growing support for leading Nigerian female artistes.
Many other Nigerian artistes have also performed at Afro Nation Portugal over the years. These include Omah Lay, Olamide, Tiwa Savage, Ayra Starr, Fireboy DML, Adekunle Gold, Wande Coal, Young Jonn, Darkoo, Victony, Qing Madi, Shallipopi, and P-Square.
The first wave announcement for 2027 keeps that Nigerian presence strong, with Davido and Rema confirmed as headliners and Omah Lay and Victony among the supporting acts announced so far.
