Delta State University (DELSU) in Abraka was filled with joy as MTN Nigeria brought its Live It 100 on Campus event to the school.
This event is part of MTN Pulse’s youth engagement platform. It aims to connect with students through entertainment, learning, and opportunities. It also strengthens the brand’s relationship with young Nigerians in universities across the country.
The three-day program saw thousands of students participate in games, fun activities, prize giveaways, and entertainment aimed at engaging and rewarding them.
The event took place from June 17 to 19. A highlight occurred on the last day when Joyce Obarakpor, a 200-level Nursing Science student, won a brand-new car in the raffle draw.
Temilolu Salako, MTN Nigeria’s Senior Manager for Segment Marketing, Youth, Women and Teens, said the initiative is more than just about connectivity.
He explained that it shows the company’s commitment to creating spaces where young Nigerians can engage, grow, and succeed.
Mr Salako emphasized that MTN Pulse is designed to meet young people where they are. It supports their academic goals and personal dreams.
“MTN Pulse is an impactful campus initiative created to celebrate and support young people. We want students to have opportunities to learn, connect, showcase their talents, and enjoy memorable experiences while on campus,” he stated.
He also mentioned that the initiative continues to reach more universities across Nigeria. This shows MTN’s ongoing commitment to empowering young people and encouraging meaningful engagement on campuses.
On the other hand, Vincent Efebeh, the Dean of Students’ Affairs who represented Vice Chancellor Samuel Asagba, praised the program. He called it a big boost to students’ welfare and overall health.
He thanked MTN for consistently investing in the growth of young Nigerians through programs that mix education, fun, and social interaction.
He noted that the event provided students with a chance to relax, connect, and take a break from their studies.
Kingsley Dumuje, the President of the Students’ Union Government (SUG), also praised the initiative. He said it resonated well with the student community.
He pointed out that the program shows MTN’s understanding of students’ needs beyond just academics. It offers a blend of entertainment, engagement, and rewarding experiences that appeal to young people.
After receiving her prize, Ms Obarakpor thanked MTN. She shared that she had pictured herself as the winner even before the event.
She dedicated the car to her mother, whom she called her greatest supporter. “My mummy is going to be very excited because she has sacrificed so much to make sure my siblings and I go to school. I want to thank MTN. I’m very happy and very excited,” Ms Obarakpor said.
