Super Eagles striker Rafiu Durosinmi
Former Super Eagles striker Tosin Dosunmu has compared Rafiu Durosinmi to Victor Osimhen. He pointed out that the Genk forward's ability in the air is a major similarity between the two Nigerian strikers, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.
Dosunmu, who is also Durosinmi's agent, believes the 23-year-old has qualities like Osimhen. He noted that Durosinmi is especially strong in the air.
"Rafiu sometimes reminds me a bit of Victor Osimhen, with the difference that he is really very strong in the air," Dosunmu told Het Nieuwsblad, via Tribal Football.
Durosinmi has had a great start to the 2026/27 season. He has scored five goals in six matches in the Jupiler Pro League since joining Genk from Italian club Pisa during the summer transfer window.
The Nigerian striker had a four-match scoring streak at the start of the season. He is currently sharing the top spot in the Belgian league's scoring chart with RAAL La Louviere striker Mustapha Ubandoma.
Dosunmu was also pleased with Durosinmi's quick impact at Genk. He said the forward impressed him from his first league match, even though he had only trained with the team for a short time.
"On matchday one, he already surprised me with what he showed after barely ten days of training," Dosunmu said.
But the former Westerlo forward thinks Durosinmi still has areas to improve as he gets used to his new team. He believes the striker needs to develop better understanding with his Genk teammates.
"Condition-wise, he is not yet top-notch, and the understanding with his teammates still needs to develop a bit," he added.
Durosinmi joined Genk after facing tough times at Pisa. He moved to the Italian club in January but found it hard to make an impact there. Pisa was relegated from Serie A at the end of last season.
He made his Super Eagles debut in May during the Unity Cup. Head coach Eric Chelle used the tournament to test different players in attack while several established players, including Osimhen, were absent.
With the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers coming up, Durosinmi hopes his good form at club level helps him get another chance with the Super Eagles.
Before that, he will aim to keep scoring when Genk plays against Belgian champions Club Brugge in their next league match.
