Nigeria’s U-20 girls beat hosts Poland 1-0 in a friendly match at the Municipal Stadium in Brzeg on Friday. This game was part of their final preparations for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
Mary Mamudu scored the only goal in first-half stoppage time. This win gives Coach Moses Aduku’s team a boost before their World Cup opener.
The Falconets held on to their slim lead after halftime to secure the victory against the tournament hosts. This win is a good sign as they continue to prepare for the competition.
The team arrived in Poland earlier this week. They will play their second and last friendly against the Republic of Korea at the Remes Resort and Spa Football Stadium on Tuesday, September 1. After that, they will focus fully on the World Cup.
Nigeria, who have been runners-up twice at the U-20 Women’s World Cup, will start their campaign against Spain on Monday, September 7. They will also face China PR on September 10 and New Caledonia on September 13 in Group F matches.
The FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup will take place in Poland from September 5 to 27, 2026.
