Fatima Oloko has called her first call-up to the Super Falcons a “dream come true.” She earned a spot in Nigeria’s squad for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.
The 18-year-old goalkeeper is among head coach Justine Madugu’s final 25-player squad for the tournament. It will run from July 25 to August 16.
In an interview segment called ‘Inside the Super Falcons’ Nest’, shared on the team’s official X account, Oloko said her mother was the first person she told after getting the call-up.
“It was actually my mom. My mom was the first person I spoke to,” the Abia Angels goalkeeper said.
When she arrived at her first Super Falcons camp, Oloko felt both excitement and nerves.
“It was a dream come true for me,” she said. “I was excited, but at the same time I was still nervous, like I was kind of shaky.”
Training with Nnadozie
One of the highlights of her call-up is training with Chiamaka Nnadozie. Nnadozie is one of Africa’s best goalkeepers. Oloko said she is excited about sharing the training ground with the Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper.
“That’s one feeling I cannot explain or express right now because that was the first thing that came to me. I was happy,” Oloko said.
“I’ve watched her from afar and I admire her a lot, and getting the opportunity to train alongside her is a very big honour to me.”
A Major Milestone
Oloko’s inclusion in the squad is a big achievement in her fast rise. She is the only player from the Nigeria Women’s Football League to make the final squad. Her impressive performances during the 2025/26 season helped Abia Angels qualify for the NWFL Super Six for the first time ever.
Her displays also earned her the NWFL Goalkeeper of the Season award. Now, she will join Nnadozie and Portsmouth Ladies goalkeeper Comfort Erhabor as the Super Falcons start their title defence in Morocco.
Nigeria is aiming for a record-extending 11th WAFCON title. They have been drawn in Group C with Zambia, Egypt, and Malawi. Qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup is also at stake.
When asked what most people do not know about her, Oloko gave a light-hearted answer.
“Despite me being beautiful, I love my job and I take it seriously,” she said.
