Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has announced that Spanish forward Ferran Torres is joining the club. The World Cup winner signed a contract that will keep him at PSG until 2031.
The club shared the news on its official website on Saturday. Torres will wear the number nine shirt for the team.
Ferran Torres was born in Foios, Spain, on February 29, 2000. He started his football journey with futsal before moving to the Valencia CF academy at just seven years old.
He progressed quickly at Valencia, making history in December 2017. He became the first player born in the 21st century to play in La Liga, debuting against Eibar.
During his three years with Valencia, Torres played 97 matches and broke several records for young players. PSG noted, "In 97 matches for Valencia, Ferran Torres left a lasting impression and set a number of new records for his age, becoming, at 19 years and 324 days, the youngest player in the club’s history to have played 50 league matches, as well as the first goalscorer born in the 21st century in the Champions League for a Spanish club."
He won his first major trophy with Valencia in 2019 when they lifted the Copa del Rey. His great performances led him to Manchester City in 2020, where he played under Pep Guardiola.
PSG said, "Ferran Torres scored his first goal for the Cityzens in the EFL Cup against Burnley, just six days after making his Premier League debut against Wolverhampton."
During his time at Manchester City, Torres helped the team reach the Champions League final in 2021 and won the Premier League and League Cup. He made 43 appearances, scoring 16 goals and getting four assists.
In the winter transfer window of 2021-22, Torres moved to Barcelona. There, he earned the nickname "El Tiburón," which means "The Shark" in Spanish. He became a key player in their attack.
PSG stated, "In 207 matches for FC Barcelona, he found the net 65 times, including in the Copa del Rey final victory against Real Madrid in 2025, where he helped his team force the game into extra time."
While at Barcelona, Torres won three La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey, and two Spanish Super Cups.
Torres began his international career with Spain’s youth teams. He won the European Under-17 Championship in 2017 and the Under-19 European Championship in 2019.
He has since become a regular in the senior national team, earning 65 caps. Torres shared, "I’m delighted to be beginning a new adventure at such an ambitious club as Paris Saint-Germain."
He expressed gratitude to President Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, Luis Campos, and coach Luis Enrique for the opportunity. Torres hopes to help PSG win as many trophies as possible.
Luis Enrique gave Torres his senior debut in 2020 during a Nations League match against Germany. He represented Spain at Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
In 2023, he helped Spain win the Nations League and contributed to their European Championship victory in Germany in 2024.
PSG announced that Torres added the World Cup to his international achievements. "Just this summer, in North America, the Valencia-born player won the World Cup and helped Spain add a second star to their shirt."
The club added, "Ferran Torres etched his name into the history books by scoring the only goal of the final in extra time as La Roja defeated Argentina, also earning him the Man of the Match award."
Now, Torres starts a new chapter in Paris, where he will wear the number nine shirt for PSG until 2031.
