Barcelona striker Ferran Torres is missing training as he gets closer to joining Paris Saint-Germain.
The 26-year-old was supposed to return to training with Barcelona on Wednesday. Instead, he will stay away while talks for his move to PSG are ongoing.
According to BBC Sport on Wednesday, the transfer deal could be worth more than £40 million. Torres has only one year left on his contract with Barcelona.
This summer, Torres played a big part in Spain winning the World Cup. He scored the extra-time winner against Argentina, helping Spain secure its second World Cup title.
The forward has talked openly about leaving Barcelona, which has upset some fans. During a media tour in the United States after Spain's World Cup win, Torres said his future is still uncertain.
"I have a contract with Barcelona but, in football, you never know," he stated.
When asked about PSG's interest in him, Torres replied, "Every time these teams want you it’s a good thing."
"You never know because in football everything can change in one minute, so I have to be ready for everything," he added.
If he moves to PSG, Torres will reunite with Luis Enrique, his former manager at Barcelona. Enrique now leads the French club.
PSG has won the Champions League the last two seasons and is still working to strengthen their team.
The French club might also lose Bradley Barcola this summer, as Liverpool is reportedly interested in him.
Torres joined Barcelona in 2022 after playing two seasons at Manchester City. He has scored 25 goals in 65 matches for the Spanish national team.
With his Barcelona contract nearing its end, a transfer to PSG could give the Catalan club a good transfer fee. It would also allow Torres to start a fresh chapter in France.
