Former England winger Andros Townsend came out unhurt after a strange incident with a pitch roller in Thailand.
The 35-year-old, who plays for PT Prachuap in Thai League 1, was warming up before Saturday’s match against Pattani. A staff member seemed to lose control of the heavy machinery.
BBc Sport reported on Saturday that Townsend’s left leg got stuck briefly under the pitch roller. Luckily, he did not suffer any injuries during the event.
He was able to join the game later and came off the bench as PT Prachuap won 3-0.
Townsend, who earned 13 caps for England in his football career, later joked about the incident on Instagram.
He referenced a past post where he compared the sunny weather in Thailand to his previous trips to Stoke City’s Bet365 Stadium. He wrote, “It turns out Stoke away wasn’t so bad after all. Swipe to see why.”
The former Tottenham, Luton, and Crystal Palace winger shared a video of the strange incident along with his joke.
