Ghana's Cudjoe: We Will Prove Ourselves Against Mali

Black Queens midfielder Jennifer Cudjoe has urged Ghanaians to keep believing in the team as they get ready for their important Group D match against Mali at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

Ghana will play Mali on Thursday at the Moulay Rachid Stadium in Casablanca. A win will guarantee them a spot in the quarter-finals of the tournament.

The Black Queens started their campaign with a 2-0 win over Cape Verde, who are playing in the tournament for the first time. They then lost narrowly to Cameroon, making their final group match crucial for qualification.

Even with this setback, Cudjoe is hopeful that Ghana can advance and achieve their goals in Morocco.

“We want to be the best. We want to get to the World Cup and also get to the final,” she told the media on Wednesday.

“It is always good to hear the feedback from the fans. We are going to show up and prove to them that we are here, and they should trust us,” she added.

A victory against Mali would take the Black Queens to the WAFCON quarter-finals and keep their dreams of qualifying for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup alive.

Ghana has not played in the Women’s World Cup since 2007. They missed the last four editions of the tournament. The four semi-finalists at this year’s WAFCON will qualify for the 2027 finals.

To end this long absence, the Black Queens need to reach the semi-finals in Morocco. Cudjoe and her teammates are aiming for a strong performance against Mali on Thursday to move closer to returning to football’s biggest stage.
