Investigation starts after three siblings found dead on Ondo farm

Residents of Oke Ogba in Akure, the capital of Ondo State, are in deep sorrow after three children from the area died on Saturday.

The bodies of the children were discovered on their father's farm, close to a stream in the community.

The children are Joshua Jonah, 11; his twin brother, Jacob Jonah, 11; and their five-year-old sister, Blessing Jonah.

A source reported that the children went to the farm with their father on Friday. They later left for home while their father continued to work on the farm.

After some hours, their father returned home and noticed the children were missing. The family started searching for them.

Sadly, the bodies of the children were found on the farm the next day, Saturday, near the stream.

As of now, the cause of their deaths has not been determined.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, spoke about the incident over the phone. He said the police have begun an investigation into the tragic event.

Jimoh stated, "The Ondo State Police Command confirms the tragic loss of three siblings at a farm located around the Owena Army Barracks, Akure, on 4th September 2026.

"The victims, identified as Joshua Jonah, 11 years; Jacob Jonah, 11 years (twins); and Blessing Jonah, five years, reportedly accompanied their father, Samuel Jonah, to the farm.

"They later left the farm for home but were discovered missing when their father returned home. A search was subsequently conducted, and on 5th September 2026, the bodies of the three children were discovered around the bank of a small river within the farm."

Jimoh added that their father has taken the bodies for burial. He mentioned that the police are still documenting the incident and investigating to find out what led to the deaths.
