IShowSpeed Cries as Ronaldo's World Cup Journey Ends

American streamer Darren Watkins Jr., better known as IShowSpeed, shed tears and later apologized to Cristiano Ronaldo after Portugal was knocked out of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

A video from Speedy HQ showed the popular YouTuber getting emotional as Portugal lost 1-0 to Spain in the Round of 16 on Monday night.

When Ronaldo appeared on the screen after the final whistle, IShowSpeed cried, repeatedly saying, “No… no, bruh!” while trying to control his feelings.

In another video after the match, the internet star apologized to the five-time Ballon d’Or winner and Portugal fans, saying he really wanted Ronaldo to win the World Cup.

“Ronaldo, I love you. I’m so sorry that you lost the World Cup. I’m sorry I was cheering for you. I wanted you to win. I genuinely wanted you to win,” he said.

He also expressed regret to Portuguese fans, adding, “I’m sorry to everybody who was cheering for Ronaldo… I’m sorry Portugal as well. I love y’all… It sucks that the chapter has to end this way.”

Clearly heartbroken, Speed called Portugal’s exit a painful experience, saying, “This honestly sucks… This is sad… Everything sucks right now.” He mentioned that he has followed Ronaldo’s World Cup journey since he was a teenager and wished it could have ended differently for the football star.

IShowSpeed's love for Ronaldo started in 2021, when a livestream where he excitedly shouted Ronaldo’s famous “Siuuu” celebration went viral. This phrase became one of his well-known catchphrases.

His dream of meeting the Portuguese captain came true in June 2023 when Rafael Leão helped stop Ronaldo’s car after a match. During this moment, Speed went down on his knees, showed Ronaldo his CR7 tattoo, and celebrated with him using the famous “Siuuu.”

Since then, they have developed a good relationship. Ronaldo has sent Speed birthday messages, given him merchandise, and even followed him on Instagram. The streamer has also made friends with Ronaldo’s son, Cristiano Ronaldo Jr.

Ronaldo’s World Cup journey ended in a heartbreaking way when Mikel Merino scored a last-minute winner, giving Spain a 1-0 victory over Portugal at AT&T Stadium. This result eliminated Portugal from the tournament and many believe it marks the end of the 41-year-old forward’s World Cup appearances.
