Iwobi Clears Fulham Posts After Fans' Booing

Nigeria international Alex Iwobi has removed all his posts about Fulham from Instagram. This comes just days after some fans booed him when he was substituted during the club's 3-2 loss to Crystal Palace, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.

Iwobi was taken off the pitch in the 82nd minute. Fans greeted his exit with ironic cheers and jeers, even though he had run the second-longest distance of any Fulham player that day.

Former Arsenal teammate Emile Smith Rowe also cleared his Instagram of football content. Both players have made their accounts private as Fulham struggles at the start of the season.

The Cottagers have lost all three of their opening Premier League matches and currently sit in 19th place. Only promoted Coventry City has had a worse start based on goal difference.

Iwobi has played in all three matches. Smith Rowe came off the bench in two games and sat out one completely.

This is not the first time Iwobi has deleted his posts related to Fulham. He did the same earlier this year before bringing some posts back in late May.

He joined Fulham from Everton in 2023 under coach Marco Silva. Iwobi had previously played for Silva at Everton and has become a key player both on and off the field. His teammates say he is important for the team's spirit in the dressing room.

The 30-year-old has faced criticism before. After the Super Eagles lost at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Nigeria, he received harsh comments on social media. Iwobi also deleted his Instagram account back then.

Fulham's struggles are likely to continue, as they will visit Anfield to play against an unbeaten Liverpool team this weekend.
