Popular Nigerian skit maker and actor, Akinyoola Ayoola, known as Kamo State, has denied rumors of a fallout with actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele. He said they are still close, even if they are not seen together as often.

In an interview with BBC Yoruba released on Wednesday, Kamo explained that their fewer public outings are due to their busy schedules. Both have become more occupied with their careers, which makes it tough to spend time together like before.

Kamo said, "We are still together, even closer. But now she is very busy with her December project, which didn’t give her a chance. I am also not the same as I used to be last year, and her prayer is that I should also always be called to work on projects."

He urged fans and social media users to stop spreading false stories about their relationship. "There is no fight; don’t let people paint what doesn’t exist," he stated.

Kamo shared how their relationship started, saying he admired Akindele long before they met. He called her one of his biggest inspirations. "Before I met her, she had been like a role model to me; I love her very much. The first time I saw her in person was on the set of Everybody Loves Jenifa."

He recalled losing the key to a handcuff used on set, which made Akindele show concern for him. "Because of how she treated me on set, I started calling her mummy," he added.

Kamo said Akindele’s belief in his talent helped them work together on several projects, including Ayetoro and Behind the Scene. Over time, her appreciation for his hard work strengthened their professional bond.

PUNCH Online previously reported that Kamo revealed Akindele offered to fly his wife abroad to give birth after hearing about her pregnancy. He described this as one of many kind gestures from the actress, who he credits for helping his career.

His recent comments come amid ongoing social media chatter about a possible falling out since they haven't been seen together at movie sets and public events. But Kamo insists there is no misunderstanding between them, and their relationship is still strong despite their busy work lives.
