Bayern Munich forward Harry Kane has said that he no longer feels the urge to go back to England and break the Premier League’s all-time scoring record since joining Bayern Munich.
The England captain left Tottenham for Bayern in 2023 after scoring 213 goals in the Premier League. He is now 47 goals away from Alan Shearer’s record of 260.
Kane thought he would return to England one day to surpass Shearer’s record, but his time in Germany has changed how he feels about it.
According to BBC Sport on Wednesday, Kane said, “When I first left, for sure it was something I thought, I would definitely be coming back. That itch isn’t there as much anymore.”
The striker has been in great form at Bayern, scoring a lot for both his club and the national team. Last season, he finished with 73 goals.
Kane is now in the last year of his four-year contract at Bayern and is expected to talk about a new deal with the club. After winning the Golden Shoe for being the top scorer in the Bundesliga, Kane expressed how happy he is in Munich.
“I am extremely happy here in Munich,” he said. “It opened my eyes to a totally different world of football outside of England and it has made me appreciate European football even more.”
He added, “I just think the team we have here and the manager, my family is really settled here, it is just about being in the best place possible.”
Kane did not completely dismiss the idea of going back to England but made it clear that he is focused on Bayern for now.
“Never say never, but for now I am concentrating on Bayern Munich and we will see what the future holds,” he said.
