Actors Lateef Adedimeji and Linda Ejiofor-Suleiman will lead in a new Nollywood movie called Black Market. The producers want to set a Guinness World Record for the largest film screening at one venue.
Rixel Studios shared this news on Thursday. The film will premiere on 26 September at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) in Lagos.
The producers plan to gather 50,000 people for the premiere. They want to beat the current record of about 43,000 people watching a film in one place.
This record attempt is a joint effort with FilmOne Studios and Switch Visuals Production.
Black Market is the second feature film from Rixel Studios. Their first film, Red Circle, came out in 2025.
The script for Black Market was written by Abdul Tijani-Ahmed and Fatimah Binta Gimsay. Fatimah also directed the movie. They filmed it in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The cast features Lateef Adedimeji, Linda Ejiofor-Suleiman, Ibrahim Yekini (Itele D Icon), Scarlet Gomez, Omowunmi Dada, Teniola Aladese, Susan Pwajok, Uzor Arukwe, Folagade Banks, Tomiwa Tegbe, Andrew Yaw Bunting, Shamz Garuba, and Adeoluwa Akintoba.
The producers say the premiere aims to set a new Guinness World Record for the largest audience at a single film screening.
Nora Awolowo, who leads Rixel Studios, mentioned that the project shows the team’s wish to explore new ideas after their first film.
She said, "As young filmmakers, one of our aims is to look for ways to innovate creatively."
Ladun Awobokun, Chief Content Officer at FilmOne Studios, called the record attempt a chance to show Nollywood to the world.
Also, Damilola Osikoya, the CEO of Switch Visuals Production, said the project shows what young filmmakers can do when they work together.
Director Fatimah Gimsay explained that the team wanted to create an entertaining film and looked forward to sharing it with audiences.
