Mageeco FA and Flourish Queens Win 2026 Obasa Summer Games

Mageeco FA and Flourish Queens have won the 2026 Obasa U-16 Summer Games. The tournament ended on Friday at Oniwaya High School in Agege.

For over a month, 20 male teams and eight female teams played in this youth football festival. They showed off their skills to enthusiastic fans.

A total of N2 million was shared among the winners, runners-up, and those who received individual awards.

In the final match, Pius Moses scored three goals as Mageeco FA defeated Amoroso Football Academy 4-0.

In the women's final, Flourish Queens won 6-5 on penalties after a 1-1 draw at the end of regular time.

Abdul-Ganiyu Obasa, the Executive Chairman of Agege Local Government, spoke to the press. He said, "The final matches in both categories were truly exciting. With proper investment in the right platforms, many youths can excel in sports. Based on last year’s success and this year’s, we look forward to the next edition."

He added, "The Obasa Summer Games have been very impactful, uncovering many talents. After their holiday lessons, these young athletes displayed their football skills across various teams. This initiative has also helped reduce social vices by channelling energy into productive activities."

Obasa also mentioned, "As a Local Government, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has empowered us to serve our communities. We actively use sports to engage youths, alongside skill acquisition programs such as photography, videography, and hairdressing."

He continued, "We also plan to boost Agege’s profile by establishing a community team called Agege City FC. This team will compete with clubs like Ikorodu City, Inter Lagos, Sporting Lagos, and Eko United. It’s inspiring to see talents scouted from the Obasa Summer Games U16 making up the team."

Obasa concluded, "For Agege Local Government, sports development is a vital way for young talents to express themselves and build future careers. This is not just in football, but also in fields like medicine, engineering, law, and banking."
