Man arrested for allegedly defiling his stepdaughter in Edo

The Edo State Police have arrested a man for allegedly defiling his six-year-old stepdaughter.

The suspect is 57-year-old Kadiri Edenokun from Jattu, Auchi, in Edo North. This information came from a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Eno Ikoedem, on Wednesday.

The little girl is currently getting medical treatment from the Edo State Ministry of Women Affairs. Police are still investigating the case.

In the statement, Ikoedem said, "The command has arrested a suspect over the alleged defilement of his six-year-old stepdaughter. During interrogation, the suspect confessed to committing the offence multiple times."

She added, "The child is currently receiving medical treatment under the care of the Ministry of Women Affairs, Edo State."

The suspect is still in police custody and will face charges in court once the investigation is complete.
