This information came from a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, CSC Musbahu Kofarnassarawa, on Monday in Kano.
Kofarnassarawa said the incident happened on Sunday around noon. A 40-year-old man tried to throw a substance believed to be Indian hemp into the custodial centre.
He added that the suspect, who lives in Janguza Quarters, Kano, was caught by officers from the Armed Squad Unit. They acted quickly and kept a close watch on the situation.
The officers were under the direction of the Commander of the Armed Squad Unit, CSC Usman M. Sale.
The Controller of Corrections for Kano State, Ahmed Yusuf-Lakpene, praised the officers for their alertness, professionalism, and dedication to keeping security in custodial facilities.
Yusuf-Lakpene emphasized the command’s strong position against smuggling banned items into custodial centres.
He called on the public to stop trying to bring in illegal substances and other banned materials into correctional facilities.
