Manchester United Muslim Supporters Club (MUMSC) is calling for new owners for the club. They say they have lost trust in the current management.
The supporters' group made this statement after co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe discussed immigration, taxes, and welfare in a BBC interview. He claimed that Britain was "on the slide."
Ratcliffe, who started the petrochemical company Ineos, blamed the country's problems on high taxes and a lot of immigration.
According to BBC Sport on Saturday, MUMSC said Ratcliffe's comments were "deeply disappointing and completely unacceptable." They pointed out that they had already criticized his remarks about immigration in February.
In that earlier comment, Ratcliffe said Britain had been "colonised by immigrants" and later apologized for how he expressed that.
MUMSC said, "We hoped a lesson had been learned. Clearly, it has not."
The supporters' group mentioned that many fans had high hopes for Ratcliffe's arrival. They thought it would bring real change since the Glazer family had overseen Manchester United's decline.
After years of falling standards and broken promises, MUMSC said it has lost faith in Manchester United's current management. "Enough is enough. It is time for change. The Glazers and Sir Jim Ratcliffe must go."
The group emphasized that Manchester United's identity relies on a diverse community of players, staff, stewards, security personnel, and fans from various countries, cultures, ethnicities, and religions.
They stated, "Manchester United would not be Manchester United without them."
MUMSC also took issue with the club's ownership over things like high ticket prices, the state of Old Trafford, and the team's recent performances.
Ratcliffe bought a 27.7% share in Manchester United in 2024. Since then, he has implemented major changes at the club, including many job cuts.
