Moses Aduku talks about Falconets’ loss as Colombia aims for U-20 World Cup Final

Falconets head coach Moses Aduku has shared his thoughts on Nigeria’s tough exit from the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. Colombia ended Nigeria’s hopes of reaching the semi-finals in Poland.

Nigeria came into the quarter-final full of confidence after a strong 3-0 win over England in the previous round. But Colombia proved to be a tough opponent in a hard-fought match.

The Falconets pushed until the final minutes. Unfortunately, Colombia found the winning goal late in the game, ending Nigeria’s World Cup journey.

Despite the heartbreak of losing in the quarter-finals, Aduku wants to focus on the bigger picture. He emphasized the importance of this tournament for his young players.

Aduku believes that playing against some of the best young talents in the world will help his players grow and prepare for their future careers.

“I think, first and foremost, this tournament is good for the young players. It gives them the ability to grow and reach the next level,” Aduku said after the defeat.

“I think, in Nigeria, we have seen the future of our players. And I think the future is very bright.”

That loss ended Nigeria’s chances of making it back to the semi-finals. The last time the Falconets reached this stage was in 2014 when they finished as runners-up.

For a team that bounced back well after a tough start to the tournament, this narrow loss to Colombia was disappointing.

Yet, Aduku feels the lessons learned from this competition are more valuable for the players than the sadness of losing in the quarter-finals.

Colombia’s win now gives them a shot at the final, while Nigeria’s players return home with valuable experience after reaching the quarter-finals.

For Aduku, the immediate pain of the quarter-final loss is eased by his belief in a bright future for Nigerian women’s football.

The Falconets may not have made it to the semi-finals in Poland, but their coach believes this journey has added an important chapter to the growth of Nigeria’s next generation of women’s football stars.
