Organisers of the Nigeria Cup Golf tournament are gearing up for an exciting championship. The 29th edition will take place from September 19 to 27, 2026, at Ikoyi Club 1938 in Lagos. They promise a tournament that shows excellence in competition, organisation, and hospitality.
At a press conference held at the golf section of the club, Mohamed Oyibo, the Chairman of the Organising Committee, shared details about the event. He said this year's tournament aims to combine sportsmanship, celebration, and networking in a unique way.
The theme for this year is “Born of Legacy, Built for Greatness.” Oyibo stressed that they are not just hosting any golf tournament. They want to raise the standard for competitive amateur golf, corporate hospitality, and sporting excellence in Nigeria.
“This year’s event will raise the bar by transforming the traditional fairways into a dynamic hospitality hub. It is going to be carnival-like, a mini festival, as we look forward to the nation’s Independence anniversary,” he said.
The tournament will have a special structure. It will include dedicated game days for children, caddies, ladies, and veterans, along with professional golfers. The Grand Finale will take place on Saturday.
In addition to the daily competitive tee-offs, attendees can look forward to exciting new features. There will be a Championship Watch Party and a formal Sunday evening Legacy Gala, supported by major corporate brands and premium lifestyle partners.
Oyibo expressed gratitude to his committee members for their hard work. He also thanked corporate sponsors and individual donors for their support over the years. The Ikoyi Golf Community Nigeria Association, which owns the tournament, uses this event to celebrate the nation’s Independence anniversary.
