The National Sports Commission has promised to fully support Taiwo Awoniyi’s grassroots football project, the Kwara Kiddies League. NSC Chairman Shehu Dikko called the initiative important for finding and building the next generation of football talent in Nigeria.
Dikko made this promise during a visit from Awoniyi at the Commission’s office in Abuja. The Super Eagles player was with former Nigerian international and ex-Bundesliga star Anthony Ujah.
During the meeting, Awoniyi gave Dikko an official Nottingham Forest jersey. He also shared his plans to create more chances for young footballers through the Kwara Kiddies League and other youth sports programs he is working on.
Dikko praised Awoniyi for his investment in grassroots sports. He promised that the Commission will provide the support and environment needed for the initiative to succeed.
“Partnerships between successful athletes and sports administrators are key to finding and training future champions, especially at the grassroots level where talent is identified,” Dikko stated.
The talks also included the overall growth of Nigerian football, athlete development, and ways to build lasting success.
