New Kano Pillars coach Daniel Ogunmodede has promised to meet the expectations placed on him after his appointment by the four-time Nigeria Premier Football League champions.
Ogunmodede was introduced by the club over the weekend and signed a two-year deal with the Kano team.
After receiving a warm welcome from the club’s supporters, the former Remo Stars coach thanked the Kano fans. He vowed to repay their trust with success.
“Thank you to Kano people for the trust and belief. I have received several messages and the love is massive. I promise not to let us down.”
Ogunmodede takes charge of Sai Masu Gida for the 2026/27 NPFL season, stepping in for Muhammad Babaganaru.
The 46-year-old arrives in Kano after a mixed experience with Remo Stars. He led them to their first NPFL title in the 2024/25 season but faced relegation in the 2025/26 season.
He is also set to keep his job as assistant coach of the Super Eagles. He has worked with Franco-Malian coach Eric Chelle in that role.
His hiring is part of Kano Pillars’ plan to bounce back after a disappointing 2025/26 season. The former champions finished 15th and barely avoided relegation.
Ogunmodede now has the job of bringing the club back to its former glory as one of Nigeria’s top teams. Preparations for the new season are already in progress.
