Popular actress and filmmaker Omoni Oboli has told creatives to stay hungry for growth. She warned against getting too comfortable after finding success.
Oboli spoke at a recent event. She highlighted the need to always look ahead and set new goals.
She said, “I don’t look at what is behind me. I look at what is in front of me. As a creative person, don’t get high on your own supply. Don’t sit back and say, ‘I did this amazing work,’ and sit there with it. Appreciate the moment, but move on quickly. Because the truth is, if you don’t get hungry again, you don’t get fed.”
The filmmaker also shared how she sees filmmaking as a duty that goes beyond just her own success. She pointed out that her achievements can affect the lives and dreams of other people.
She said, “For me, I take filmmaking as almost a ministry. It’s not just something I do because a lot of destinies are tied to mine. And I must win, for us. YouTube is a way for me to win, and when I win, my people win. It’s very serious.”
