Paul Onuachu finally scored his first goals of the season. He netted two goals in Trabzonspor’s 5-0 victory over Genclerbirligi.
The Nigerian striker was the top scorer in the Super Lig last season. But he had a tough start this season, not scoring in his first five matches across all competitions.
On Sunday, he opened the scoring in the fifth minute. He then scored again in the 23rd minute after Mohamed Salah converted a penalty.
Onuachu was substituted in the 44th minute due to what looked like an injury. Guinea-Bissau forward Franculino came on for him. Franculino scored the final goal in the 78th minute after Micu had scored Trabzonspor’s fourth in the 59th minute.
Reports from Turkey say Onuachu broke his chin during a challenge.
Chibuike Nwaiwu, Onuachu’s fellow Nigerian, also played well in defense. He helped Trabzonspor keep a clean sheet and secure their second league win of the season. The former Enyimba player was replaced late in the game after getting a yellow card.
