Nigeria missed out on a win on Wednesday when Poland scored in the dying moments to end the match in a 2-2 draw at the Stadion PGE Narodowy in Warsaw.

The Super Eagles looked ready to celebrate after Paul Onuachu scored from a penalty in the second half to give them the lead. But Przemysław Wiśniewski found the net with almost the last kick of the game to earn a draw for Poland.

Both teams are still recovering from not qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. They played this friendly to build up their squads.

Nigeria started strong and took charge of the game after a balanced start. They took the lead in the 23rd minute when Terem Moffi scored calmly, putting the visitors ahead.

Poland struggled to create clear chances in the first half. But in stoppage time, Kacper Potulski scored from close range to level the match at 1-1 before halftime.

At halftime, Nigeria coach Eric Chelle made several substitutions to test different players for future games. This led to fresh energy in the Super Eagles.

In the second half, Nigeria dominated play. Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Raphael Onyedika, Calvin Bassey, and Semi Ajayi came on as Nigeria searched for another goal.

Their efforts paid off in the 76th minute when VAR caught a handball in the Polish penalty area. Onuachu took the penalty and scored a minute later, putting Nigeria back in front.

The Super Eagles were on track to win their second match against Poland, having previously beaten them 1-0 in Wroclaw in March 2018 with a penalty from Victor Moses.

But Poland fought back late in the game. In the fifth minute of stoppage time, defender Wiśniewski scored a fantastic goal to make it 2-2 and snatch the victory from Nigeria.

Even though it was disappointing to concede so late, the draw showed promising signs for Nigeria. They displayed attacking skills and depth in a tough match against a well-known European team.
