The Lagos State Police have arrested a 29-year-old man linked to the robbery of a clubber outside the Ghost and Spirit Lounge on Ekoro Road, in Abule-Egba.
The police are also working to catch other gang members who took part in the robbery.
PUNCH Metro learned that the robbery happened around 5am on Saturday, September 26, 2026.
A CCTV video of the event, which has gone viral, showed a group of men near parked cars. A man in a yellow polo shirt approached one of them.
Shortly after, a grey Mercedes-Benz GLK SUV stopped across the road. A man reportedly got out and fired what seemed like gunshots.
The video showed the man who was approached being robbed, while three others jumped into the SUV and drove off.
The footage sparked reactions on social media, with people calling it a robbery.
On Monday, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Tijani, confirmed the robbery. He said one suspect was arrested and identified the victim’s stolen items as a gold wrist chain and rings.
Tijani spoke at a press briefing at the command headquarters in Ikeja. He said the suspect was caught at the Lagos-Ogun boundary.
He stated, “On 26/09/2026 at about 0500hrs, we got information that armed men, with an AK-47 rifle, drove into Ghost and Spirit Lounge, Ekoro Road, Abule-Egba, in a grey Mercedes-Benz GLK SUV and robbed a man of his gold wrist chain and rings.
“Investigation led to the arrest of Ezekiel Sunday Obi, male, 29 years, at about 0100hrs on 27/09/2026 at the Toll Gate, Lagos-Ogun boundary.”
The Commissioner said the police are stepping up efforts to catch the other suspects and recover the stolen items.
“Efforts are ongoing to arrest other members of the gang and recover the exhibits,” he added.
