Rangers International, the champions of the Nigeria Premier Football League, had their trophy parade on the streets of Enugu on Tuesday. This event celebrated their ninth league title, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.
Rangers secured the 2025/26 NPFL title on Sunday, May 24. They won 2-1 against Ikorodu City in a thrilling match that determined the champions, beating Rivers United in the process.
The club's players and officials paraded through various parts of Enugu. They concluded the celebration at Okpara Square.
As part of their celebration, they visited the Government House. There, they were received by the Executive Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah.
Title Decided on Final Day
The Flying Antelopes entered the final match knowing they had to win against Ikorodu City. The team had not lost at home before that day. This victory secured them the championship. They celebrated despite Rivers United's 3-0 win over Katsina United in Port Harcourt.
Rangers finished the season with 68 points, just one point ahead of Rivers United, who placed second.
A Historic Win
This achievement is another big moment in Rangers’ rich history. They add this title to their past wins in 1974, 1975, 1977, 1981, 1982, 1984, 2016, and 2023/24. This win strengthens their position as one of the most successful clubs in Nigerian football.
Now, they are tied with Enyimba, both having nine league titles, making them the clubs with the most titles in Nigerian top-flight football history.
