Tope Osoba Laid to Rest in Ogun State (PHOTOS)

Nollywood actress Temitope Kofoworola Osoba, known as Tope Osoba, has been buried in Iperu Remo, Ogun State. This came weeks after her death raised questions about how she passed away.

Osoba died on August 4 at the age of 40. She was laid to rest on Thursday, September 10, after a funeral service that family, friends, and colleagues from the Nigerian film industry attended.

Her body was taken from the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) mortuary in Sagamu around 9 a.m. It was brought to Akesan Club, near Iperu Morning Market, where a short burial service took place between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.

In line with the family's wishes, mourners dressed in white to pay their last respects to the late actress.

The service featured prayers, tributes, and emotional moments as family, friends, and colleagues shared memories of her life and career.

Notable Nollywood figures at the funeral included Kunle Afod, Foluke Daramola-Salako, Alesh Sanni, Jigan Babaoja, and Toyosi Adesanya.

Daramola-Salako, who affectionately called Osoba “momma,” described her as talented, cheerful, and down-to-earth. She enjoyed making people happy.

After the service, Osoba's body was taken to Iperu Remo Cemetery for burial. This was a tearful occasion filled with prayers and final tributes from loved ones.

The burial ended weeks of uncertainty after the family postponed the actress's original burial date set for August 13.

This postponement happened less than a day before the scheduled date. A candlelight procession and an artists' night were held in her honor at LTV 8, Ikeja, on August 11.

The family said they needed more time for arrangements and to settle other matters. They asked the public for understanding, prayers, and support.

Osoba's death caught a lot of public attention, as different stories emerged about what happened in her last hours.

The actress had openly talked about her fight with breast cancer and had surgery after being diagnosed around 2024. She later announced she was cancer-free and returned to acting.

After her death, various accounts surfaced about her last moments. Some allegations involved her fiancé, Prophet Itunu Onadeko, a shepherd of the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC).

The CCC announced it had started a private investigation into the events around Osoba’s death. This was after claims involving Mr. Onadeko brought the church into the controversy.

The church called the situation embarrassing and expressed worry about the allegations. It denied claims of idolatry, black magic, and charms, stating such practices go against its Christian beliefs.

Actor Yomi Fabiyi, through his Break The Silence Foundation, called for an autopsy and police probe before Osoba’s burial. He raised concerns about the circumstances of her death.

An autopsy was done, and Kunle Afod confirmed its completion. But the official findings on the cause of her death had not been made public by the time of her burial.

Because of this, questions about Osoba's final hours and death remained a hot topic as family, friends, and colleagues gathered for her farewell.

Osoba was known for her roles in Yoruba-language Nollywood films and had nearly two decades of experience in the Nigerian film industry.

Her colleagues and fans continue to honor her, remembering her talent, personality, and contributions to the Yoruba film scene.

With her burial in Iperu Remo, the actress has now been laid to rest, bringing closure to the funeral process that was postponed amid the controversy surrounding her death.

A graduate of Business Education from Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ogun State, Osoba started acting in 2005. She got her first role in Ijoya, produced by Laide Bakare.

She became well-known in 2009 after appearing in Dayo Amusa’s Ogun Mi. She also featured in films like Ifedolapo, Accident, and Gucci Girls.

Aside from acting, she worked as a dancer, featuring in music videos for Pasuma, Olu Maintain, Adewale Ayuba, and other artists.
