Morocco’s Ayyoub Bouaddi is among the top contenders for the FIFA Young Player Award as the quarter-finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup approach.

Other young stars include France’s Desire Doue, England’s Nico O’Reilly, and Spain’s Lamine Yamal.

FIFA announced this quartet on Wednesday after their impressive performances in the Round of 16 helped their teams reach the last eight.

The award goes to the best player in the tournament born on or after January 1, 2005.

Bouaddi (Morocco)

Morocco midfielder Bouaddi has been a key player for the Atlas Lions. He has controlled the midfield throughout their journey to the quarter-finals.

The Lille teenager shone again in Morocco’s win over co-hosts Canada. He is expected to play a crucial role when Morocco faces France in the quarter-finals.

Doue (France)

France forward Doue has carried his strong club form into the World Cup.

At 21 years old, he has started three of France’s five matches. He scored once and won the penalty that Kylian Mbappe converted in the 1-0 Round of 16 win over Paraguay.

O’Reilly key for England

England defender O’Reilly has become a regular starter under manager Thomas Tuchel. He has started four of the team’s five matches.

The Manchester City left-back is among England’s best in pass completion and tackles won. He nearly scored in the Three Lions’ Round of 16 victory over Mexico when he hit the post.

Yamal (Spain)

Spain winger Yamal is getting back to full fitness after recovering from a hamstring injury before the tournament.

The 18-year-old scored his first World Cup goal against Austria in the Round of 32. He played the full 90 minutes in Spain’s win over Portugal, which set up a quarter-final match against Belgium.

As the tournament moves into its final stages, these four young players will look to boost their chances for the FIFA Young Player Award while helping their teams push for the World Cup title.
