Arsenal has struck a £75 million deal with Newcastle United for their captain Bruno Guimarães, reports say.
The Brazilian midfielder has been allowed to travel for a medical as the Gunners get closer to signing one of the top midfielders in the Premier League.
Sky Sports reported on Wednesday, "Arsenal have agreed a £75m fee with Newcastle for their captain Bruno Guimaraes. The midfielder has been given permission to travel for a medical."
Guimarães has been a vital player for Newcastle since he joined from Lyon in 2022. He quickly became a leader and took on the role of club captain. His performances helped Newcastle secure European football and compete with the best in the Premier League.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta sees strengthening the midfield as a key goal as the club gets ready for another title challenge. Guimarães can control matches, win the ball back, and contribute to attacks, making him one of the most wanted midfielders in England.
This transfer would be a big deal for both clubs. Newcastle will receive a hefty sum for a player who is key to their recent success.
The deal is expected to be completed after the medical and the agreement on personal terms.
Guimarães joining Arsenal would bring more quality and experience to a squad that wants to compete for trophies at home and in Europe.
