Weeks after the drama involving broadcaster Frank Edoho, his ex-wife Sandra Onyenucheya, and singer Chike, a new video from one of Chike's performances is stirring up talk online.
Chike performed at comedian Funny Bone's show, ‘Half Man, Half Amazing’, on Sunday at Eko Hotels and Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos.
This performance was one of Chike's biggest appearances in Lagos since the online controversy began.
As expected, the atmosphere was lively. Chike entertained guests with many of his hit songs.
Most audience members sang along as he delivered an energetic show, which drew cheers from different parts of the hall.
But a video from the event showed mixed reactions from the crowd. While many women sang along with excitement, several men seemed more serious. Some had straight faces, while others were busy talking.
The video quickly gained attention on social media, leading to different opinions from viewers.
Some online users felt that the mixed reactions reflected concerns raised by social media influencer Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), during the earlier controversy.
VDM had warned that the negative public perception created by the allegations against Chike could hurt his career, especially in areas where he has strong support from women.
“Chiké, let me now tell you the reality of everything… Your career is about to be ruined for good. Most of Chike’s bookings are wedding bookings,” he stated.
VDM also noted that some male fans and event organizers might feel uneasy due to the negative view created by the allegations, regardless of their truth.
While there is no proof that the audience's reactions at the Lagos show are linked to the controversy, the viral video has reignited discussions about how public perception and celebrity scandals can affect entertainers’ careers.
In May, Frank Edoho, his ex-wife Sandra Onyenucheya, and singer Chike were caught up in a cheating scandal.
It all started when Edoho responded to rumors that Chike had an affair with Sandra.
Sandra then accused Edoho of domestic violence, selling her property for little money, and using the money to hang out with various celebrities.
While this was happening, Chike released a heartfelt song titled ‘Pity My Soul’ with Syemca.
