Edo Queens will go up against the local team, USFA of Burkina Faso, on Wednesday. This match is for a spot in the final of the 2026 WAFU-B CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers.
The Nigerian champions, who came second in Group B, will play at the Stade du 4 Août in Ouagadougou. The winner will move on to the zonal final and get closer to the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League finals.
Edo Queens made it to the knockout stage after a strong start to their campaign. They had convincing wins over AS Garde Nationale from Niger and ASEC Mimosas from Côte d’Ivoire.
The team from Benin City opened with a 7-0 win against AS Garde Nationale. They then defeated ASEC Mimosas 3-1, showing they are serious contenders for the WAFU-B ticket.
They finished second in Group B after losing their last group match 2-1 to Ghana’s Ampem Darkoa Ladies. The Ghanaian team topped the group with nine points.
But that loss did not change Edo Queens’ goal. Their match against USFA now gives them a direct chance to reach the final.
USFA will have the advantage of playing at home. They also have a strong record in the qualifiers.
The hosts topped Group A after winning both of their matches. They beat Benin’s Dynamique FC 3-0 and then won 4-0 against ASKO de Kara from Togo.
The Burkina Faso team scored seven goals without conceding any in their two group matches. This makes them a tough opponent for Edo Queens.
The semi-final is expected to be a close contest. Both teams know that one mistake could end their dreams of reaching the CAF Women’s Champions League finals.
For Edo Queens, their attacking power will be very important.
