Forest Ends 32-Year Wait for Villa Park Win with 2-1 Victory

Nottingham Forest finally won at Villa Park after 32 years, beating Aston Villa 2-1 in the Premier League on Saturday.

Aston Villa did score, but they still ended up losing at home.

Liam Delap put Forest ahead just after half-time with his first goal for the team. Substitute Alysson equalised for Villa with just over 15 minutes left.

Igor Jesus then scored late to give Forest the lead again. This win marked Forest’s first victory in the 2026/27 Premier League season.

The win also gave Oliver Glasner his first victory as Forest manager and extended the club's unbeaten run to three matches.

Before this match, Forest had drawn with Liverpool away and Tottenham Hotspur at home.

Villa started strong at Villa Park. Matz Sels made two early saves to stop Victor Lindelöf from scoring.

Forest slowly got into the game, with James McAtee, Morgan Gibbs-White, and Neco Williams all coming close to scoring before the break.

After half-time, Forest took charge and opened the scoring. Murillo won the ball in Villa’s half, then Delap carried it forward and shot into the bottom-left corner.

Forest kept pushing and Delap had another shot ruled out for offside.

Villa finally equalised when Alysson headed in a deep cross from John McGinn.

The hosts faced a setback late in the game. They had already used all five substitutions, and Ian Maatsen got injured, leaving them with only 10 players.

Forest took control again and created more chances before Igor Jesus finished the game.

He guided Danilo Muñoz’s cross into the bottom corner, with Gibbs-White flicking the ball in the build-up.

This win moved Forest to five points from their opening matches. Their next game is against Coventry City at the City Ground on September 19.
