Popular gospel singer Yinka Alaseyori has apologized after people criticized her comments about the kidnapping of pupils and teachers in Oyo State.

In a video she shared on her Instagram page on Wednesday, Yinka acknowledged the concerns of Nigerians. She showed regret that her earlier words seemed insensitive to the victims and their families.

Alaseyori explained that she never meant to lessen the seriousness of the incident or ignore the feelings of those affected by the tragedy.

"I did a video two days ago about the kidnapped children, touching on government, parastatals and every agency. But when I woke up yesterday, I found out that some well-meaning Nigerians were not happy about it, as I made them feel their voices are unheard," she said.

The gospel singer expressed sadness over the reaction to her video. She asked Nigerians, especially parents, to forgive her if her comments caused any pain.

"You know me too well that I would never make you feel like that. Mothers, do not be offended. I am sorry. I beg in God’s name. Please, forgive me. I would never think like that. Pardon and forgive me," she added.

Her apology came after many people reacted to an earlier video where she asked Nigerians to keep praying about the country’s security issues. She also mentioned that the Federal Government and President Bola Tinubu were working to rescue the victims and restore peace.

This sparked a debate online. Some Nigerians said that prayers alone were not enough. They argued that the authorities needed to take stronger action to free the victims.

The kidnapping of schoolchildren and their teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State has caught national attention. Citizens and advocacy groups are calling for stronger rescue efforts and better security measures to avoid similar cases in the future.
