Hood FC from Abuja has become the national champion of the 2026 5Stars Premier League. They won convincingly with a 4-1 score against Sir J FC from Lagos in the final match.
The match took place at the Showtime Arena in Lekki, Lagos, on Saturday, September 5, 2026. With this win, Hood FC keeps Abuja at the top, as no team from any other region has won the title since the league started in 2019.
The Abuja team had a tough first half, ending in a 1-1 draw. But after halftime, they changed the game, scoring three goals without response to claim the title, trophy, and a cash prize of N4 million.
This year’s edition, called “The Reawakening 8,” saw strong backing from corporate sponsors like MTN Nigeria, PUMA Nigeria, and Devon King’s. Ricky Weir, an international advocate for youth football, also supported the event by providing sports equipment and interacting with players during the finals.
The tournament was not just about the trophy and prize money. It also gave young talents a chance to shine and catch the eye of international scouts, football agents, and club executives. Many players stood out and are now being considered for professional opportunities abroad.
