Singer Adebayo Olotu, also known as BYTunes, started the CopaceticMusic movement. He recently moved to Los Angeles, United States. He believes this will help spread his new music genre to a larger international audience while keeping its Nigerian roots.

BYTunes stayed in Nigeria for several years to build the movement before going global. He wanted to do grassroots work first.

“I truly decided to wait back home for a few more years to be able to do some grassroots works for the new genre of music, CopaceticMusic,” he said.

He calls CopaceticMusic the “diplomatic evolution” of the style he introduced in 2024. The singer said his creative process has not changed. He noted that the sound reflects his growth as an artist.

“Regardless of the blueprint, I have been evolving. Nothing changed. I just stay Copacetic, enjoying the work of fusion that God is using me to deliver,” he added.

New Music Project

BYTunes is excited about his new seven-track project called Copaceticmusic Genre. He explained that each song was carefully made to show what the movement stands for.

“If you are able to rap, sing and also infuse a bit of either dancehall, R&B, trap, Fuji, amapiano, highlife, Afrobeats, Konto or hip-hop, regardless of how many bars you choose to apply from these genres, it is already a CopaceticMusic sound,” he said.

He mentioned that collaborations in the genre require artists to share verses in a connected way. Mixing different genres also helps create the unique rhythm.

Staying Original

BYTunes shared his thoughts on keeping the sound original while reaching a global audience. He said divine inspiration guides his creative direction.

“I don’t even know how I’m doing it. One thing I came to realise after some years is that God is truly using me,” he said.

Reflecting on his path, BYTunes sees CopaceticMusic as a natural step from the various sounds he has tried throughout his career. He talked about his journey before starting this genre.

He experimented with dancehall, rap, fuji, and other styles. His time as a backup musician for fuji artist Karashi also helped shape his music.

BYTunes advised young Nigerian musicians to focus on being original. He encouraged them not to just chase the idea of creating a new genre.
