India has kept its lead at the 2026 Commonwealth Fencing Championships in Lagos. They have secured 17 gold, 13 silver, and 13 bronze medals with two days left in the competition.

The Indian team has done well in all three weapons, epee, sabre, and foil. They have beaten competitors from Australia, England, Wales, South Africa, and the host nation Nigeria. They also have medals in the new wheelchair events.

Both the Indian men and women have reached the podium. The veteran category has not been contested yet.

England is in second place on the medal table with two gold, two silver, and nine bronze medals. Nigeria and Cyprus are in the top four.

Nigeria made history with 17-year-old Oghenegaren Osievwo-Thompson. He won the country’s first-ever international fencing gold in the men’s U-23 epee.

Top-rated Oluwafolayemi Akinyosoye also earned a bronze in the men’s sabre. Nigeria’s wheelchair team has done well too, claiming two silver and eight bronze medals. This is the country’s best performance so far.

Cyprus, with just one athlete, won a gold medal. Australia has two silver and three bronze medals. South Africa has two silver and one bronze. Northern Ireland and Wales each have a bronze medal.

With two days to go, India is firmly at the top of the medal table, showing their strength at the championships in Lagos.
